A while ago while browsing the internet i found this very nice design by fixitsan. His design and all other information can be found at the yahoogroup smartsockets. After contacting fixitsan he assured me i could make an offer to those who want to build these nifty nice boards. At the moment of writing i've got some bare smartsockets boards for B-7971 version 2 available for sale. They're first class, drilled, FR-4 epoxy, double layer, plated through boards with soldering mask and component screen. The boards are ready to accept the hard-to-get sockets on top or as seen in the pictures in fig.5 and fig.6 using tin-plated pcb socket pins (see details below). These pins fit perfectly into the board and assure a firm, thight connection between board and tube. Furthermore these pins reduce the total height by appr. 15 mm. in contrast to the original tube sockets making a slender casing possible.
